Rand Paul Says Member Of His Staff Was “Brutally Attacked” In D.C. — Details Are Horrifying

(Congress Report) – Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul came out on Monday and revealed that one of his staffers was the victim of a brutal attack in our nation’s capital over the weekend. Paul himself is no stranger to brutal attacks having suffered from one a few years ago by a neighbor that was so vicious it left him with several serious injuries. Paul did not identify the staffer, but went on to say that the individual is recovering and the suspect has been taken into custody by authorities.

“This past weekend a member of my staff was brutally attacked in broad daylight in Washington, D.C.,” Paul commented in a statement, Daniel Chaitin of the Daily Wire reports.

“I ask you to join Kelley and me in praying for a speedy and complete recovery, and thanking the first responders, hospital staff, and police for their diligent actions,” Paul went on to add, making a reference to his wife.

“We are relieved to hear the suspect has been arrested. At this time we would ask for privacy so everyone can focus on healing and recovery,” the statement finished.

Members of the press have noted they were able to confirm that the employee mentioned by Paul was the same individual that was attacked on H Street NE on Saturday. As per the Metropolitan Police Department, the victim, an adult male, was stabbed multiple times and was treated at a local hospital for life threatening injuries. Court documents say the victim spoke with a detective at the hospital, revealing he did not have any connection to the suspect. He then remarked the suspect did not make any demands for cash or anything else, which means this was not a robbery.

“A police news release on Monday said a suspect, identified as 42-year-old Glynn Neal of Southeast D.C., was arrested and charged with Assault with Intent to Kill (Knife),” Chaitin wrote.

“Officers spoke with a witness who said he and the victim were walking eastbound on the 1300 block of H Street NE on Saturday afternoon when the suspect ‘popped’ out of a corner and proceeded to stab the victim with a knife multiple times, according to a police report obtained by the Daily Wire,” Chaitin continued.

Police stated that the witness ran and tackled the suspect to the ground. After that, both the witness and victim ran away and were then able to have another individual contact the police. The person observed the victim “on the ground and bleeding from the head” and then helped address the wounds while waiting for an ambulance to arrive on the scene.

Detectives were then able to track down and arrest Neal the following day by using a cell phone that was found at the scene. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for this Thursday.

“The attack took place in the days after President Joe Biden signed a measure that blocked changes to the D.C. criminal code that critics regarded as being too soft on crime. This followed Republicans being joined by some Democrats in Congress in taking a stand against changes that included reducing minimum sentences for some violent crimes,” the Daily Wire disclosed.

“A House Democrat, Angie Craig of Minnesota, made headlines last month after she was violently assaulted in an elevator at her apartment building in D.C. Police arrested a homeless man, 26-year-old Kendrick Hamlin, in connection to that attack,” Chaitin added.
