OUTRAGE: GOP Sen. Chuck Grassley Destroys DOJ Over Not Prosecuting Employees For Lying

(Congress Report) – Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley from Iowa, who serves as the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, ripped into the Department of Justice on Monday over the agency’s “repeated failure to prosecute employees” who were busted for lying during internal investigations.

It’s about time that someone stepped up to the plate and called the very corrupt DOJ to account for all of the garbage they have been allowed to get away with for years. During the Trump administration we became aware of just how deep down into the gutter the DOJ had become. Now that the truth has been exposed, it’s time to ensure those involved in the corruption are punished for what they have done.

“An unsettling pattern has emerged from the Department of Justice (DOJ) whereby criminal referrals by the Department of Justice, Office of Inspector General (OIG), against DOJ employees for making materially false statements are rarely prosecuted,” Grassley strongly stated in a letter addressed to Attorney General Merrick Garland.

The Iowa senator then stated that the “most shocking example of this pattern” happened just last month after the DOJ refused to bring charges against the former FBI agents who completely messed up the investigation of Dr. Larry Nassar, who served as the former U.S. women’s national gymnastics team physician who received a prison sentence for assaulting gymnasts.

“The Iowa Republican listed a dozen other cases in which the United States Attorney’s Office declined to prosecute staffers. For example, the OIG substantiated allegations that an employee made inaccurate statements in an investigation report and the staffer even admitted to lying, but the attorney’s office decided to not prosecute,” Just the News reported.

The report added, “In another case, the OIG supported the claim that an employee received about $350,000 worth of excess worker’s compensation disability payments, but the office did not file charges.”

“Laws are meant to deter criminal activity, but when DOJ does not enforce those laws but rather shields their employees from consequences, it has the opposite effect. It creates a sense of entitlement and signals that DOJ employees are beyond reproach,” Grassley later stated, going on to add that “DOJ employees should be held to a higher standard” or else the department risks losing the trust of Americans.

Grassley then asked how many employees of the DOJ have been prosecuted over the course of the last five years. He then wanted to know more information concerning why the department declined to prosecute the agents suspected of wrongdoing in the Nassar case.

The DOJ is no doubt biased against anyone who would dare to question the progressive agenda, setting aside their task of upholding justice in favor of helping to keep the individuals who are dedicated to the mission out of trouble.

Let’s hope that eventually justice is served.
