(Congress Report) – A top police union officials recently stated that the current surge in crime and the ambush of law enforcement officers, many places around the United States are experiencing is the direct result of Democratic Party policies, going on to warn that the frequent release of violent offenders, along with new restrictions placed on police, are going to make things a whole lot worse.
Well, let’s be real for a moment. Democratic Party policies have been the cause of crime issues in big cities and other urban areas for a long, long time. Typically, the policies of the left destroy businesses, which then leads to a depletion of economic opportunities for folks in the city, who then feel pressured into a life of crime to try and make ends meet.
And yet, the left continues to win elections in these areas by offering temporary reprieve in the form of welfare programs and other free goodies, which only perpetuate the cycle.
“I would say that most police officers don’t believe that Joe Biden is on their side,” Fraternal Order of Police National Vice President Joe Gamaldi went on to say during an interview on the “Just the News, Not Noise” TV show on Wednesday.
He then slammed Democratic policies, ranging from those done on the federal level, all the way down to those implemented at the local level, for getting in the way and preventing law enforcement officers from being able to do their jobs.
“Gamaldi, a Houston police sergeant, especially blasted Chicago’s new rule, instituted by Democratic Mayor Lori Lightfoot, that prohibits officers from chasing down suspects involved in misdemeanors,” Just the News reported.
“Just when I think that they can’t coddle criminals any more than they do, they come out with a policy like this. Just when I think they can’t neuter our ability to enforce the law, they come out with something like this,” Gamaldi then stated, going on to add that it sends a clear message to criminals “that all you have to do is run from the police and we’re not going to chase you.”
Gamaldi then explained that the criminal justice policies that are implemented in cities run by Democrats ultimately harm minority communities the most.
“When you have these people pushing these horrific policies, they don’t give a damn about the community. It’s agenda over people,” he said during the interview with editor-in-chief John Solomon and co-host Amanda Head.
“He blasted the cities with record-murder rates, New York, Atlanta, Washington D.C., and Philadelphia. Line-of-duty police officer deaths hit a record high in 2021, with ambush-style attacks up 115% from 2020,” Just the News stated.
Gamaladi then singled out the city of Los Angeles, which is where District Attorney George Gascon just took some major heat after two police officers were ambushed and killed, right in broad daylight, by a suspect who was out on probation for felony possession of a firearm.
“Our communities are fed up. They’re pissed off. They want safe streets,” Gamaldi went on to say, emphasizing that people will hold soft-on-crime politicians “accountable at the ballot box,” shown by how Gascon is now facing a recall.
The completely scathing takedown of union leaders came out on the same day that former Acting Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Mark Morgan issued a warning concerning the political liabilities of leftist border policies.
