Tucker Carlson To Host First GOP Presidential Primary Forum

(Congress Report) – The Republican presidential field is getting crowded and former Fox News host Tucker Carlson is going to be the first to bring several of the candidates together so voters can become better informed on their views.

Blaze Media announced that Carlson will host a presidential forum in Iowa this Friday featuring five candidates, not including former President Trump who is enjoying a massive lead in the polls.

“Blaze Media is teaming up with THE FAMiLY LEADER to bring you the first presidential forum of the 2024 Republican Primary season, hosted by Tucker Carlson,” the media outlet wrote in a tweet on Monday.

“We’ll be live streaming this event all day Friday, July 14th on BlazeTV and the BlazeTV YouTube channel.” the news outlet added.

Those who will attend the forum include Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) and former Vice President Mike Pence. The forum will be held at the Family Leadership Summit in Des Moines, Iowa.

President Trump currently leads the field of Republican candidates by a staggering margin of over 30 percentage points, according to the RealClearPolitics average of polls.

Trump has 53 percent support; while DeSantis garners 20.9 percent; Pence, 6.1 percent; Haley, 3.6 percent; Scott 3.3 percent; and Ramaswamy 2.4 percent.

The forum comes before the first official Republican National Committee debate which is set for Aug. 23 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Back in April, Trump indicated that he would not be partaking in any debates because he believes his staggering lead will only put a target on his back.

“I’m leading by 40 points. A lot of people say, ‘Why would you do a debate when you have people at two and three and fifteen and fourteen [percent]?’” Trump told John Catsimatidis, host of the “Cats & Cosby Show” on WABC 770.

Fox News reported that Trump has said both publicly and privately that he may skip the Milwaukee debate because of his large lead over the rest of the field, but aides say a final decision has not been made.

“People don’t debate when they have these massive leads. They say, ‘Why would we debate?’ I would have a hostile group of anchors — a hostile network — asking questions. Why would I do that?” Trump stated.

Last week, DeSantis confirmed that he will join his fellow candidates onstage in Milwaukee “regardless” of what Trump does.

“I’ll be there regardless. I hope everybody who’s eligible comes,” DeSantis, 44, told Fox News, adding that he thinks debates are “an important part of the process.”

Friday’s forum is sure to be interesting and informative even if Trump is utterly dominating the field.

  1. Are you sure Trump was invited by Tucker? There have been previous writings that Tucker does not like Trump on a personal basis, so maybe this is a slight aimed at Trump to diminish his lead and help the underdogs. Come on, Tucker,…MAGA!
