WATCH: RFK Jr. May Quit Presidential Bid And ‘Join Forces’ With Trump

(Congress Report) – Nicole Shanahan, vice presidential running mate of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an independent, has announced that the pair are currently weighing which path to take forward, either staying in the race until the end or dropping out now to back former President Donald Trump. This is actually a really big deal. If RFK Jr. were to remove himself from the race and endorse Trump, the majority of voters planning to vote for him would likely cast ballots for the former president come November.

Earlier this month, according to an article from Fox San Antonio, Kennedy ripped into Vice President Kamala Harris after news came out stating that she was denying him any sort of potential role in her administration, should she somehow manage to win against Trump. The Washington Post disclosed that the independent candidate’s campaign reached out to Harris’s team and sought to hold a meeting about the possibility of serving in her administration.

“Kennedy reportedly offered to drop out of the race and endorse Harris in exchange. Shanahan on Tuesday denied such reports via the ‘Impact theory with Tom Bilyeu’ podcast, but she said the Kennedy campaign may shutter operations to avoid the ‘risk’ of a victory by Harris,” the Fox article noted.

“There’s two options that we’re looking at, and one is staying in, forming that new party, but we run the risk of a Kamala Harris and [Tim] Walz presidency because we draw votes from Trump,” Shanahan went on to say during the interview.

She then revealed the second option is to “walk away right now and join forces with Donald Trump.” She added that taking this course of action would enable the campaign to set their sights on running again in 2028.

“Shanahan went on to clarify she is not currently in talks with the Trump campaign about such a move. Kennedy reportedly met with Trump during the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee to discuss such a deal,” Fox continued. “The third party campaign is currently struggling to obtain ballot access in some states. A judge ruled this month Kennedy could not appear on New York’s ballot, a decision that could impact his access in other states.”

RFK’s running mate pointed out that the current ballot access they have is great for future independent candidates as it opens up a better path for them, as per The Hill.

Fox stated that Vermont Democratic Sen. Bernie Sanders discussed all of the obstacles he faced during his own campaign for the White House in an interview earlier this month.

“We won the first three primaries, and then the establishment got very, very nervous… and they said, ‘Hey, it would be a good idea if you dropped out,'” Sen. Sanders remarked.

Shanahan also commented during her interview that she would be interested in running for governor of California.

  1. Unlikely gambit. Harris’ stringpullers need a man of populist conviction on their inside, like they need another Trump candidate.
