State AG Declares War On Biden Administration

(Congress Report) – Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey, a Republican, asserted that his office is prepared to use “every tool” at its disposal to “root out” an “enterprise of censorship” that has been created by the Biden administration, in a recent interview conducted with the Daily Caller News Foundation.

“Bailey’s remarks come just weeks after he was sworn into office on Jan. 3 to replace former Attorney General Eric Schmitt, who now represents the state in the U.S. Senate, according to the Missouri Independent. A military veteran, Bailey served as the counsel to Missouri Governor Mike Parson prior to his appointment to the attorney general’s office,” John Demastri of the Daily Caller wrote.

The Republican Party is now emboldened with the fresh infusion of diehard individuals that have taken office this past election, thanks in no small part to the work of former President Donald Trump who enjoyed a plethora of victories from candidates he threw his support behind in 2022. It’s time to start taking action, ladies and gentlemen. Biden and his leftist cronies have done significant damage to our republic. It’s time to strike back.

Demastri said, “The new attorney general inherits several cases from the outgoing Schmitt, most notable among them a lawsuit against the Biden administration that alleges that the White House and other federal agencies — including the FBI and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention — violated the First Amendment by pressuring social media companies to censor ‘disfavored’ speech. Documents that have already been released through the discovery process, in addition to public statements by the administration, indicate that the federal government took advantage of its position of power over social media platforms to silence people, Bailey noted.”

Censorship is a deadly weapon when its use is employed against liberty. When people are allowed to speak freely, ideas and beliefs are transmitted throughout a culture. But more than that, it means that people in positions of power are able to be criticized, along with their worldview. This scrutiny leads to investigation, both in a formal sense and by individual people in society. Leftists want duct tape slapped over our mouths so we can’t do that, thus enabling them to stay in power and get rich off the backs of hard working Americans.

“It’s not just collusion between federal bureaucrats and big tech social media cronies, it’s coercion,” Bailey declared during his interview with the Daily Caller News Foundation. “The Biden administration bullied and coerced big tech social media into censoring their disfavored speech. They did this by threatening sanction against big tech social media in the form of antitrust suits and in the form of a repeal of section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, which is the gravy train for these big tech social media companies.”

“Schmitt —alongside Louisiana AG Jeff Landry, who is also a plaintiff in the case — in October sought the deposition of former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, alongside several other top administration officials like Dr. Anthony Fauci, former chief medical advisor to President Joe Biden. While Fauci was deposed, Psaki’s deposition was halted by an appeals court in early January, which found that since her role in the administration was not involved in policy-making, there was no evidence suggesting that she had ‘unique first-hand knowledge’ justifying the ‘extraordinary measure’ of deposition a high-ranking former member of the executive branch, according to The Hill,” Demastri reported.

“We have no problem with the court’s request,” Landry replied, as per The Hill. “We look forward to obtaining more discovery.”

Continuing in his conversation with the DCNF, Bailey differed from his colleague saying, “all options are on the table.”

“We are using every tool at our disposal to ensure that we have rooted out this enterprise of government censorship … and we will take as long as it takes to do it, and we will take any deposition that’s needed,” remarked Bailey.

Bailey then pointed out that in some instances, social media companies actually decided to resist the requests made by the federal government to remove content by citing company policy. He then made the case that those policies were already “pernicious enough … but then when you got the federal government pushing big tech social media beyond those policies, you get some really dangerous censorship.”

Bailey went on to reveal to the DCNF that the states were the “vanguard” in the war against the “federal grant state” and that “state attorneys general are the tip of the spear.”

“I intend to lead that fight,” Bailey added. “There is no sanction for the administrative state in the United States Constitution.”

“Following an October 2022 ruling from the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals which found that the agency was unconstitutionally funded, a group of 16 Republican attorneys general — including Landry — filed an amicus brief supporting the ruling. When asked if he agreed with that finding, Bailey said it was ‘an issue we continue to look at and analyze,'” Demastri stated in the article.

Freedom of speech is a critical right that needs to be fought for and protected. It’s the bedrock of any free society. You cannot have liberty without the ability to freely speak your mind and criticize your government.
