Sore Losers: Senate Dems Push To Rewrite Presidential Election Rules With New Constitutional Amendment

(Congress Report) – Having experienced a massive loss at the hands of President-elect Donald Trump in the 2024 election, Senate Democrats, sore losers that they are, have decided to make a go at changing the rules. Because if you can’t convince the American people you know what’s best for them better than they do, and you can’t cheat to win, just change the rules of the game, right? This is beyond juvenile. It’s a toddler tantrum.

According to The Western Journal, those same bunch of Senate Democrats don’t seem to get that the arguments they’re currently making for doing away with core principles of our nation would also open up a path for justifying the dismantling of the entire Senate. Liberals never, ever seem to think things all the way through to their logical conclusions.

“Monday on the social media platform X, the Senate Judiciary Committee, chaired by Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois, announced a ‘bill to abolish the Electoral College, restoring democracy by allowing the direct election of presidents through popular vote alone,” the report said.

“Durbin, who has also proposed arming illegal immigrants, joined two of his colleagues, Democratic Sen. Brian Schatz of Hawaii and Democratic Sen. Peter Welch of Vermont, in introducing a proposed constitutional amendment that, if adopted, would abolish the Electoral College, per The Hill,” the article divulged.

“In 2000, before the general election, I introduced a bipartisan resolution to amend the Constitution and abolish the Electoral College. I still believe today that it’s time to retire this 18th century invention,” Durbin explained. Snapping the Electoral College out of existence, which is found in Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution, can only be done through an amendment.

However, if you get rid of the Electoral College, you basically put all of the power to pick and choose policy, legislation, and leadership, in the hands of those who live in big cities while silencing the voters in fly over states. It’s tyranny of the minority.

“In other words, Senate Democrats have no chance of abolishing the Electoral College, that perennial object of their unhinged fixation. Still, their behavior requires explanation. And voters need to understand why they must never allow Democrats to succeed in their sinister quest,” the WJ penned.

One thing Democrats can’t seem to see is that with all of the votes from the election officially tabulated, Trump is taking home a popular vote victory by two million ballots. In other words, if the Electoral College didn’t exist, he still would have won. So Democrats are desperate to shift the narrative away from the blazing popularity of the president-elect and toward a need to supposedly defend “democracy.”

Democrats have a tendency to do their best work election wise when chaos erupts. And an election in this country without the Electoral College would certainly produce a lot of that.

The WJ report stated, “Imagine how presidential elections would unfold if determined by the national popular vote. Imagine waiting on California, for instance, to finish counting its votes more than a month after Election Day. As it stands, California awards 54 electoral votes — no more, no less. So we know in advance exactly the degree to which Californians will influence the election’s outcome. But what if California Democrats had an incentive to find as many votes as possible? Would any Republican trust the outcome of elections conducted in that manner?”

Hilariously, the very same arguments that Democrats are using to justify abolishing the Electoral College can be used in the Senate.

“I’m excited to partner with my friends and colleagues Senator Schatz and Chair Durbin on this important constitutional amendment, which will help empower every voter in every state,” Welch commented, per The Hill.

However, as the article notes, the Senate does not even remotely reflect the will of “every voter in every state.”

The Electoral College accomplishes this by giving electoral votes based on a state’s population, which means that when a candidate wins a state, they get those votes, which mirrors the will of the voter far more than Senators in Congress.

“And that is the point: America’s constitutional republic incorporates democratic principles, but it is not a democracy, and it must never become one, lest we endure the unbridled tyranny of electoral majorities. Instead, America’s constitutional system provides for a meaningful division of power between the national and state governments. The Electoral College, by empowering the people of all the states to conduct their own elections and award their electoral votes as they see fit in a manner consistent with the Constitution, helps prevent the tyrannical consolidation of states into a single, omnipotent national government,” The Western Journal explained in its closing.

  1. Marxist Maggott Progressives just being Marxist Maggot Progressives. These degenerate, deranged treasonous creatures have no shame, only hate for America and Americans. You get what you vote for – the reason most of these perverts come from absolute crime ridden filthy hellholes (i.e. blue cities).

  2. The Democrats don’t realize that in order to eliminate the electoral college, there has to be an amendment to the Constitution. Three-fifths of the states would have to pass it. They can’t just pass a law to get rid of it.
