(Congress Report) – Founder and CEO of social media platform Gab, Andrew Torba, has revealed that Thomas Matthew Crooks, the 20-year-old would-be assassin who opened fire during a rally for former President Donald Trump in Pennsylvania on July 13th, likely had an account that he used as a means of supporting President Joe Biden. Which is very odd because most of the individuals who sign up for the platform are ardent supporters of Trump and lovers of free speech in the most absolute sense of the phrase.
According to a new report from the New York Post, Torba stated that he discovered on Wednesday that Crooks “may have had an account on our platform” after he received “an emergency disclosure request from a law enforcement agency.”
One of the reasons this is so significant is because folks on the left have been attempting to spin a narrative that makes it look as if Crooks’ motive for the shooting was anything but politically related. In fact, several experts have tried to say that the main reason for the shooting was because Crooks was mentally ill and felt insignificant, thus assassinating Trump would put him in the history books. How are they reaching this conclusion? From Google searches Crooks made for President John F. Kennedy’s assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald.
Flimsy isn’t a strong enough word to describe this theory.
“The account @epicmicrowave — which the CEO stressed he has been ‘unable to confirm’ was definitely Crooks’ — ‘posted on the site nine (9) times total,’ Torba tweeted just 30 minutes after getting the law enforcement request,” the Post noted.
“While the account made very few posts on the site, the majority of them were in support of President Biden,” the CEO of the platform, which was first launched in 2016 as a completely free-speech alternative to Twitter, now owned by Elon Musk and known as X, declared. “A number of posts in particular expressed support for President Biden’s COVID lockdowns, border policies and executive orders.”
Torba shared several images of the pro-Biden posts that were made, though the handle had been blocked out. One of the posts mocked an election projection posted in February 2021, saying, “Didn’t you also think Biden would lose in a landslide yeah I would not be very confident in your election predictions.”
🚨Approximately 30 minutes ago, Gab learned that Thomas Crooks, the deranged Joe Biden supporter who attempted to assassinate President Donald Trump, may have had an account on our platform. We are unable to confirm that the account in question actually belonged to him.

“In another thread, the user defended Biden’s border policies with a study that compared crime statistics for undocumented immigrants, legal immigrants and American citizens in Texas,” the piece divulged.
“Biden executive orders don’t incentivize human trafficking as human traffickers aren’t interested in citizenships, likewise the majority of illegal immigrants are not criminals and in fact some studies (such as the one linked below) show lower rates of crime committed by these individuals,” the poster wrote.
“It is also unclear if the extensive path to citizenship is in fact effective at routing out potential bad actors hence why there is a review of that system,” the user continued.
The social media platform’s CEO also said that he was “disclosing this information at significant personal and business risk.”
“If the past is any guide, defying the D.C. consensus by publishing the first definitive evidence that the shooter was a Biden supporter — something Democrats and their media allies have tried to cover up and deny at every turn — has a high probability of resulting in significant political and media backlash,” he remarked in a post of his own. “We have saved the account data pending receipt of a search warrant.”

Would appreciate some prayer. I'm sticking my neck out big time on this one, but I felt it was the right thing to do in the public interest. https://t.co/x13BuEOYWJ

The search for a motive behind Crooks’ actions does not have to be an either/or. It can be a both/and. More than likely it’s going to be a combination of a number of different factors. A human being is complex with emotions and dysfunctions both mental and physical that can combine together to create a person like Crooks.
At the end of the day, Crooks was likely mentally ill. However, that doesn’t mean politics and the kind of extreme anti-Trump rhetoric pushed through the mainstream media didn’t play a role in helping the young man choose his target.
